Why do I need a holistic psychotherapeutic approach?

The choice to pursue therapy is a very personal one. There are multitudes of reasons why people seek the services of a nonjudgmental person to help them process significant personal issues and to move forward.

The integration of mind, body and spirit cannot be ignored when one is trying to effect interpersonal change. This is how a holistic approach of treatment enhances the process overall. This form of treatment involves the use of multiple modalities to facilitate the process.

What happens at my first appointment?

The first appointment is an intake session. This appointment would differ from other sessions, as it involves gathering history and determining your needs. I will inquire about the reason you are seeking services and your past. This session is also an opportunity for us to get to know one another to determine if continuing services would benefit you. There will be paperwork and payment arrangements made during this session.

What types of insurance do you accept?

I am on the following insurance panels: Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, Oxford, Optimum, Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, and 1199.

What if you do not accept my insurance?

I accept Cash, Credit Card s or Paypal payments.

If you have another insurance I could be considered and out of network therapist. You would need to pay for the sessions initially and you will be provided an invoice ”superbill” to submit to your insurance. You would have to discuss the rate of reimbursement with your particular insurance, as the rate varies.

Payment is either made prior to or at the time of service.

Is what I tell you private?

An important aspect of a therapeutic relationship is confidentiality. What you say during session is kept confidential; however, there are three exceptions to the rule. I am a mandated reporter; by law when I suspect abuse or neglect, of a child, or adult, this must be reported to the authorities. If an adult or child presents a danger to self or others, this would also be reported to continue to ensure safety. Finally, in the event of a subpoena due to court proceedings to testify or provide records.

Also please be aware that when you use your health insurance benefits to cover the cost of therapy sessions, some information may be requested, such as diagnosis and session information. If this is an issue alternative payment methods are accepted to ensure a higher level of privacy. Attached is information regarding privacy laws.
